Possible Futures for the Rio Grande do Sul Dynamic Psychiatry Congress
The 26th Rio Grande do Sul Congress of Dynamic Psychiatry was conceived based on a general idea of innovation and developed from 3 basic axes: depicting the wealth and plurality existing in the Department of Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine of UFRGS; welcoming international guests with considerable scientific production associated to the various lines of research of the Post-Graduation Program in Psychiatry of UFRGS; and respecting the tradition kept by the Congress of maintaining a space for the discussion of aspects related to analytic psychotherapy.

Psychotherapies traditionally belong in the private offices, in specific publications of each therapeutic modality and its patients. They has a story based on individual conquests. Those in love with psychodynamics are involved in activities related to psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapies; those associated to cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy are advocates of effectiveness; humanists defend “the person” and so on. This is the common path followed by different psychotherapeutic methods: the particular path of each theory. But what do they have in common?
The Brazilian Journal of Psychotherapy is a unique space for different psychotherapeutic currents. Our team has worked hard in the last years to, respecting the specificities of each psychotherapeutic work, adapt the magazine’s rules and standards to those of the most prestigious scientific journals.
