Centro de Estudos Luis Guedes (CELG) is a non-profit scientific association congregating around 300 psychiatrists, professors of the Department of Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine of FAMED/UFRGS, students and former students of this department and of other specialization, extension and post-graduation courses in psychiatry promoted by UFRGS, residents and former residents of the Medical Residency in Psychiatry of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA), in addition to invited teachers. It was founded in December 22nd 1959 and it is located in the second floor of the HCPA. It is an affiliate of the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry, as a representative organ for its associates. CELG’s objectives are providing continuous education and scientific improvement to its associates and to the community linked to mental health area; promoting and stimulating research in the psychiatry field and associated areas, in addition to collaborating with the Department of Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine of UFRGS and the HCPA’s Psychiatry Service in its activities concerning teaching, assistance, and research. With this purpose, it promotes Academic Specialization and Extension, as well as Updating, Courses, comprehending various areas in adult, child, and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy, clinical psychiatry, chemical dependence, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychotherapy supervision and others. |
