| XXVI Rio Grande do Sul Congress of Dynamic Psychiatry |
|
The Rio Grande do Sul Congress of Dynamic Psychiatry, organized by the Centro de Estudos Luis Guedes, of the Department of Psychiatry of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, is one of the most longstanding events in the Brazilian scientific calendar in psychiatry. Throughout 52 years, this event has constantly been held, being now in its 26th edition.
Many important names in national and international psychiatry have already been present, such as Dr. Otto Kernberg, Dr. Agop Akiskal, Dr. Glen Gabbard, Dr. Robert Post, Dr. Valentim Gentil Filho and others.
Throughout these years, the Department of Psychiatry of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul has been exponentially and solidly developing, and today it is one of the main learning, counseling, and research centers in Brazil. The principal characteristic of this department is its seriousness and commitment with innovation, plurality of theoretical schools and models in learning and counseling and strong attention to research.
Therefore, in 2000 the Post-Graduation Program in Psychiatry was created, becoming, in a little more than 10 years, one of the main research centers in Psychiatry in Brazil and the only one receiving the highest grade (grade 7) at CAPES.
Within this context, the main objective of the 26th edition of the Rio Grande do Sul Congress of Dynamic Psychiatry is to reflect the wealth and diversity of the Department of Psychiatry at UFRGS, maintaining respect for its traditions.
In addition to the traditional space for discussion in analytic psychotherapy and those of other theoretical inclinations, the Congress will be associated with the II Encontro de Ciência e Inovação of the Post-Graduation Program in Psychiatry at UFRGS.
Therefore, the various fields and lines of research, such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, life quality, schizophrenia, psychotherapies, chemical addition, and others, will count on the presence of international invitees who will discuss innovative themes in their different fields.
In line with the concern with the future of Psychiatry, this edition of the Congress will have as a highlight the presence of Dr. Darrel Regier, one of the coordinators of DSM 5, who has confirmed his presence in our Congress, which will occur a few months prior to the official publication of the DSM 5 in the United States.
With this innovative approach to a scientific event we aim at sponsoring with public (CNPq) and private institutions that may establish a partnership in this event that, we are sure, will be a success and a milestone within Brazilian psychiatry.
